How Long Does An Online ACLS Certification Course Take?

Having helped hundreds of students obtain their ACLS certification online, one of the questions we get most often at ProMed Certifications is this:

Can I really sign up for ACLS training and get certified in just a few hours?

The answer to this question is a resounding, YES!

For some, however, it can seem almost too good to be true.

This is especially the case for students who have previously experienced what an in-class course is like.

It can be difficult to imagine that the same exact certification that takes 2 full days to complete in person could be obtained same-day online.

But, it’s true.

If you’re still skeptical, here’s the scoop.

For those required by their employer to obtain an ACLS certification, there is no longer a need to plan weeks in advance or modify your entire schedule to accommodate an in-person ACLS course.

Since online ACLS courses do not have a limit to the number of students who can attend, you can easily sign up for a course and begin studying immediately.

There’s no need to adjust your schedule – you can plan your studying and testing activities around your life, instead of the other way around.

So, how much time, exactly, does an online ACLS certification course take?

Well, there’s no right or wrong answer to this.

It ultimately depends on a number of individual circumstances.

Since these courses are self-guided, the more dedicated and disciplined you are, the faster you can expect to complete the required coursework and take your test.

The flexibility of online certification also allows students to spend as much or as little time as desired.

That means if you prefer to take your time and study here and there, obviously the time it will take to achieve your certification will be longer.

As such, completion time varies student to student.

One of the biggest determining factors as to how long it will take you to complete your ACLS course is how familiar you are with the material.

If you’ve already studied, know the ACLS algorithms or have some hands-on experience, you will likely already know about many of the topics covered in the coursework.

The more you understand the material, the quicker you can breeze through it and take your exam.

If you’re brand new to ACLS concepts, it will likely take a bit longer to digest and comprehend the material.

When you’re ready to take your exam, the time it will take to complete the test will again vary based on how well you know the material.

At ProMed Certifications, exams are not timed, so you don’t have to worry about feeling pressured to finish quickly.

If it takes you longer to go through and really feel confident about your answers, the total test time will be extended. (And don’t worry if you don’t do well the first time around. We offer unlimited retakes, so you can go back and study what you need before trying again.)

Generally speaking, if you already have a solid understanding of ACLS certification coursework and want to tackle it as quickly as possible, you could potentially become certified in a span of 1-2 hours.

If you’re not as familiar, it could take closer to 4 or 5 hours. And, of course, if you plan on studying in dribs and drabs, the length of time it takes to complete your course will be entirely up to you.
